Kambla is the running of buffalo's between pairs of two buffalo's each egged on by a hardy farmer who runs behind the animals at the same speed. These buffalo's are bred, fed and trained specifically for the Kambla. This sport is unique to Tulu nadu region (Dakshina Kannada district and parts of North Kerala) and is held every year between November and March.
Kambla is a unique sight and a great attraction for photographers, culture and offbeat travelers. Also around the ground where the Kambala is held is a big fair with lots of food and game stalls etc. It is like a village fair.
